GBP/JPY Price Forecast: Buyers defend 216.50 as bullish trend continues
Gold managed to meet the target of 4050 and broke below it. Prices are still searching for support with the medium term support being at 3886.
USDJPY managed to pass above the short-term resistance zone of 161.95 which shows a strong advance still ongoing. Prices fell toward 160.50-70 on the suspected intervention before bouncing back.
GBPUSD managed to test the resistance zone at 1.3400-30 last week before a market correction. As we see over the previous chart and as long as prices remain below this resistance, another retreat toward 1.3305 and 1.3160 could hit the market.
EURUSD is still holding above the Intraday support at 1.1380 as traders await the U.S inflation data today. Traders need to watch the support of 1.1380 as the market still has a chance to move higher.
In the latest bank forecasts, the Indian rupee could recover against the US dollar over the coming months as foreign bond inflows return and domestic liquidity conditions improve, according to HSBC. The bank recommends selling the USD/INR exchange rate, arguing that recent policy measures should encourage overseas investment into India.
Escalating tensions between the US and Iran have once again pushed crude oil prices higher, providing further support for the US dollar. The greenback has performed particularly well against lower-yielding currencies, such as the Swiss franc, as investors seek both safety and higher returns while reassessing the inflation outlook.

The US dollar posted its best day in three weeks on rumours of a US military blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East enabled Brent to post its best daily percentage growth since 2020.
EUR/GBP has slid to its weakest level in a year, as the two currencies continue to follow increasingly divergent paths. The ECB's June hike—its first since 2023—was meant to signal renewed hawkishness, but the very next inflation print undercut that narrative: price growth cooled from 3.2% to 2.8%, enough for markets to now assign an 88% probability that policymakers will simply hold steady at their July 23 meeting.
